• Thickening vs. Cutting and Reattaching
In some cases you’re better off cutting the thin segment of the dreadlock off, fraying both ends, and reattaching as if it were an extension. It might sound extreme, but this is my prefered solution in some situations.
• When to cut and reattach?
Situations that would call for cutting and reattachment would be when the hair is aged and mature and you don’t have good hair to add and match the original hair. I have more peace of mind for doing this when the hair is residue free, because I know the reattachment will be much stronger. I also have more peace of mind doing this if the dreadlocks are on the skinnier side rather than on the thicker side. At the end of the day it’s a judgement call you’ll have to make depending on your situation.
• Extension Course
If this is the course of action you want to take you should take Course #6 for Attaching Extensions and Reattaching Dreadlocks.
