• Adding Virgin Hair
When adding hair, we ALWAYS recommend using Virgin hair whenever possible. It’s the most natural form of hair to use, the biggest downside of Virgin hair is the price. It is the most expensive option. If you have standard Afro Hair and you’re working with the Virgin Afro Hair we recommend for training, this will work perfectly for you.
• Dying Added hair
With that being said, if you have any intention of dying your dreadlocks after the hair is added, you should certainly use Virgin Hair.
• Adding Human Hair
The structural integrity of Human Hair is perfectly acceptable if you have zero intention of dying it. However Human Hair is not always dyeable – it’s hit or miss. “Human Hair” is dyed, chemically processed, and often sealed with a silicone coating which makes dying it tricky in most cases. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but the results might turn out different than what you want. Otherwise, Human Hair is a perfectly acceptable option.
• Adding Synthetic Hair
Go for it, it’s just likely to be a different texture. If you can match the texture and you don’t intend to dye it, it’ll work very similar to normal hair for this purpose.
• Other Options
As I’ve stated in the previous video, Alpaca hair might be an option for very Soft and Fine Hair Textures. There may be other options out there, however we only work with Virgin Hair and Human Hair, therefore you’ll have to do your own research if you intend to work with other options.
