• For Practice – Setting up the extension holder
Use the suction cup to attach the extension holder to a glass surface and simply hook the hair in. It holds better than you’d think.
• For Practice – Carabiner
The extension holder is HIGHLY recommended, however it is out of stock at times, or maybe you don’t have a great surface to attach it to. In those cases, you can use the mannequin holder clamp and attach a small carabiner to it and loop the hair through. This holds the hair for your backcombing practice, however it’s much more difficult to work with.
• Real World – Isolate sections on the clients head
If you’re about to do this on a live human head, you’ll want to isolate sections first. Always have very clean well defined sections otherwise the dreadlocks will want to grow together later on. Once you have the sections isolated you’ll want to be sure all surrounding hair is either rubber banded or clipped thoroughly out of the way. Trust me on this, you’ll want everything very well isolated.
• Unconventional Attachment Points
Some people just hold the weft in their toes, I’m not gonna show you an example of that in this video. I don’t think anyone wants to see my toes… Some people will use a sturdy clipboard which you can sit on. Just get creative if you are doing this without the recommendations I provide here.
