• Healthy vs. Damaged Hair
Extension Attachments and Dreadlock Reattachments will have difference attachment lifespans depending on how healthy or damaged the hair is. When we claim “permanent” attachment it’s only with healthy hair. Processed and damaged hair can be unpredictable.
• Damaged and Chemically Processed Hair
The more damaged and chemically processed the hair is, the shorter lifespan you can expect for the attachment. When hair is chemically processed it can be very difficult to know how much damage is done, or how brittle the hair will be over time. Part of the problem attaching to bleached or chemically processed hair is that if you use restorative products to moisturize the hair the attachment is likely to hold for a shorter period of time, but if you don’t treat the chemically processed hair it will become brittle and damaged quicker.
• Healthy Hair – The Ideal Scenario
Obviously we prefer working with unprocessed hair based on the information I just explained. Hair that has never been processed, bleached, lightened, and free from split ends is always the best hair to work with. This type of hair will give the strongest attachment resulting in the longest attachment time. Another thing to consider is how long the hair is, longer hair is often more damaged and brittle on the ends. The healthiest hair to attach to is usually hair that is must shorter.
• Longevity for Afro vs. Straight
99% of our Afro attachments are fully seamless and permanent as long as the client follows our guidelines. 90%+ of re-attachments are fully seamless and permanent regardless of hair texture if the hair matches. Straight, Curly, and Non-Afro Extensions will vary greatly depending on the hair texture and type of hair used for the extensions. Most Virgin and Human Hair extensions will hold for 2-3 years with our method, and most Synthetic extensions will hold for 1-2 years, assuming the hair the extensions are being attached to is healthy.
