• An overview and quick refresher
This video will serve as a quick refresher for the information covered in the Instant Locs Crochet Method course.
• Required Prerequisites
You will need to complete the Instant Locs Crochet Course (#5) to understand that material in this course. And if you intend to work with straight hair you will also need to take the Backcombing (#3) and Palm Rolling (#4) courses as well. All courses are designed to be taken linearly.
• Definitions, Variations, Misunderstandings
The method we teach is the “micro-loops” variation of the crochet method. We will not be teaching you the “wrapping” version, or the Interlocking Technique, or using string for permanent attachment. The only time we’re ok with string is for temporary tie-in extensions which will be discussed later in this course.
• Hair Textures, Kinky, Curly, Straight, Synthetic
We’ve had success with all hair textures, however the difference in hair texture will result in a greater amount of time and effort to produce the same results. Afro Hair is always the easiest, Caucasian and Hispanic Hair vary greatly, but then things get more difficult as you progress towards extremely stubborn and thick hair such as thick Italian Hair, Middle Eastern Hair, and Synthetic Extensions it becomes increasingly difficult and more time consuming.
• Slippery Products vs. Clean Dry Hair
As stated in the previous course, having clean dry hair is CRUCIAL for getting a tight and solid connection. Do not use any products, moisturizers, or conditioners leading up to your attachment.
• Risk Mitigation for Breaking Hair
Damage to the hair is often inevitable with any method, and we take precaution to prevent or at least reduce any damage likely from our method. We discuss processed hair, split ends, and dry brittle aged hair.
• Risk of poking your fingers
You will poke your fingers at some point. This is inevitable. We re-emphasize how to reduce and eventually eliminate this from happening. Proper hand placement is key. If at any time you poke yourself I highly encourage you to review our “Risk of poking your fingers” video again.
