• Extensions vs. Reattachment
By learning extensions, you’ll also learn reattachment. Other than a few small differences, we approach them in nearly the exact same way.
• Dreadlock Reattachments
9 times out of 10 our reattachments hold permanently regardless of the hair texture as long as the hair matches. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that extensions for non-Afro hair textures often have a limited lifespan of a few years, whereas reattachments with the original hair holds permanently. This means you had dreadlocks before, cut them out, and reattached the same dreadlocks to your hair – where everything matches up.
• Permanent Extensions
Working with Permanent Extensions is our focus for all of the Hands On content within this course. This is our specialty. Taking the information I just outlined in the reattachment topic, it’s best to match the hair as closely as possible with virgin hair if possible if you’re seeking longevity. On the other hand Afro Hair Extensions will hold permanently as long as you’re using Human Hair or Virgin Hair and the hair on your head is also healthy.
• Permanence & Seamlessness
The two things that really set our work apart from many other salons is how perfectly seamless our connections usually are. It’s not always perfect, but if the hair is closely matched, it’s almost always seamless. We also take pride in the longevity of our attachments being permanent or semi-permanent (lasting for a few years) depending on the situation.
• Temporary Extensions
Temporary extensions usually come in two variations. Either they have a looped end, or they’re “double ended”. Both of these versions are intended to be tied into the dreadlock or the hair with string and removed and reattached every few months. This isn’t something we’re very adept to, since we focus on “real” dreadlocks, however we do have one free introduction video on this later in this course.
